Graffiti has existed since the days of ancient civilizations like Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire, but it wasn't only the Greeks and Romans that produced graffiti. The Mayan site of Tikal in Guatemala also contains ancient examples, not to mention Viking graffiti that survives in Rome, Ireland, and Istanbul. There is also evidence of Chinese graffiti on the Great Wall of China.

El grafiti ha existido desde los tiempos de las antiguas civilizaciones como la griega y romana. Pero no fueron sólo los griegos y romanos los que produjeron grafitis. El yacimiento Maya en Tikal, Guatemala, también contiene ejemplos antiguos, por no mencionar los grafitis vikingos que perduran en Roma, Irlanda y Estambul. También hay restos de grafitis chinos en La Gran Muralla China.
