Nice one Dónal. Many people do spend their lives buying bricks to build rooms in which to die and see it as a God-given right.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights says (article 25) that I have the right to adequate housing and that I have the right to own property (article 17). However, it doesn’t say that I must own my home and spend the rest of my life paying for it. That’s my choice.
Neither does it say that I can buy up fifteen or sixteen homes as an investment while others sleep rough. In fact, doing this contravenes article 29, which says that in exercising my rights I should do so with due recognition and respect for the rights and freedoms of others.
If I own all the houses, …
I think I’ll stick to dancing and fighting.
