This is the first day of the first black president of the United States of America. A lot of people all around the world feel hope and wish for a more peaceful future. Many people think Barack Obama is like J F Kenndy - young, energetic and a man who can unite a nation.

Obama has English, Irish and Kenyan ancestors. He was born in Hawaii in 1961 but spent seven years of his childhood in Indonesia. He is remembered for his work in poor communities and for his success at Harvard Law School. Obama wants health care for everyone in the USA.

Many people see the new president as a new start for the USA. Other people are not convinced.

We’ll see.
